San Francisco Bay Area Policy

MCP is working with Bay Area Air Quality Management District to approve the Rangeland Compost Protocol for use as a climate mitigation strategy by cities, county government, water and utility districts, open space authorities, and other jurisdictions in the region.

MCP also engages in regional climate adaptation (through the Joint Policy Committee) and water planning (through the Bay Area Integrated Water Management Plan) to position climate-friendly agricultural practices such as rangeland compost application as a core strategy to promote climate and water resilience.  MCP is engaging various counties, water districts, and land managers in the region interested in managing their rangelands for soil carbon and its inherent on-ranch and ecosystem benefits.
